Paul Carr casts a wary–yet enthusiastic–eye on efforts to develop the super fast Internet (up to 6,000 times faster) and the news that the scientists developing it are talking to Microsoft and Disney about developing possible applications for it.
“Programme makers and broadcasters would have a huge commercial incentive to invest in the technology and negotiate the rights required to develop large-scale video-on-demand services. New programmes could be piloted online before being moved to “proper” TV if they attracted enough viewers.”
