The founder of Borders and Webvan, Louis Borders, is planning a comeback with an online content retailing solution for media industry, with his new company Spyglass Media. After being hush-hush for almost a year, it has some major media companies on board, and will be launching an online premium content solution on July 28, focusing for now on the consumer magazine industry.
While Borders is co-founder and chairman of the company, the venture is headed by another co-founder Doug Herrington, former head of marketing at Webvan; and includes Jon Burke, the founder editor-in-chief of Red Herring; Eva Manolis, co-founder of Shutterfly; and Lisa Stone, the former editor-in-chief of Women.com.
