Apple’s Planned Music Service For Windows Attracts Rivals


Mindful that the vast majority of computer users have Microsoft operating systems, Apple rivals are ramping up plans to offer similar permanent, downloaded song purchases…Other companies will have different selling points: Musicmatch is likely to rely on seamless integration with its well-regarded jukebox software and song-recommendation engine. Amazon is contemplating ways to combine downloads with its existing CD-selling business by giving consumers, say, free downloads of concert tracks when they buy CDs on the site.
