An interesting story on how all the investments made by online news sites in the Iraq conflict may not necessarily translate well for the bottomline: “While tens of millions of readers have converged on the Net, advertisers have largely stayed away. It’s an investment the sites likely will not recoup for months — if at all.”

On a side note, Simon Waldman, the head of the UK newspaper Guardian’s online efforts, said that “revenues have jumped 30 percent year-on-year, Waldman said, adding subscriptions ‘will be a part of our future.'”
