Usability and Content Sales

“The mere presence of subscription content may add to percieved value of a site. But again, this depends on the user…to other users with less specific goals, it may simply signal that the site is designed to fleece them of cash, or take their personal details in order to send them spam. While such a site may be easier to maintain and produce content for than a split-tiered site, it also runs the risk of alienating users whose interest in a site and it’s content may be peripheral, but correctly supported by the site, could develop over time.”
