Peppercoin Receives $1.7 Million in Venture Funding, Launches Service

This is perhaps the first venture funding in the payment space in the last six months. Peppercoin, which is developing low-cost transaction services for online music and video retailers, yesterday announced it has secured $1.7 million in startup funding.

The company´s technology was designed by Professor Ronald L. Rivest and Silvio Micali, co-founders of the Cryptology and Information Security Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
