Whatever Happened to the Great Idea of Football Online? (UK): As the new round of football VoD rights talks looms, the Guardian looks at the game’s prospects online. “What seems to be central is how much value delayed VOD online rights have, especially when Premier League fans already have so many opportunities to view elsewhere. At club level too, individual teams already use delayed rights…to show their own highlights packages. While they are restricted to their own games, diehard club fans seem to be happy. Arsenal, for instance, says it has doubled the number of subscribers to its Arsenal World Plus online subscription service, which has offered fans player interviews and forums as well as delayed match highlights since the start of this season.”
