Times They’re A Changin’ in U.K.’s Newspaper Market (via IWantMedia.com): An excellent overview of U.K.’s newpapers? efforts to on charging for content online. But here’s my question: why have journalists and analysts suddenly started to talk about losing audiences if sites start charging? Isn’t it obvious the site will lose traffic? Is WSJ.com the most popular site in the world? The statistic of interest is how many “qualified users” has the site managed to convert into a paid subscriber. There is a process to converting from a free to paid site, and nothing’s written in stone. Somebody ought to pound the gavel on this…Mr. Vin Crosbie, are you listening?
