European Online Publishers Losing More

European Online Publishers Losing More Money than U.S. Sites (via AOP Update Newsletter): Not that it comes as a surprise, but a new research by World Association of Newspapers reports that 71 percent of websites in Europe are losing money compared to only 35 percent in North America.

“Independent research consultant, Patrick Lenehan warned: ‘If you close off your site to non subscribers you will lose money. This is a fact. A direct impact is the loss of advertising inventory.’ Lenehan added that there could also be an impact on the brand because readers may simply object to moving from free to ?pay for content?.”
