MarketWatch’s Q3 Results: Online financial

MarketWatch’s Q3 Results: Online financial news and information provider MarketWatch.com’s (Nasdaq: MKTW) Q3 net losses narrowed and revenues rose slightly, helped by the increase in advertising sales. Net losses narrowed to $724,000 from a loss of $16 million in the year-ago quarter. Revenues rose to $11 million from $10.5 million a year-earlier, helped by a 15 percent rise in ad sales.

Licensing revenues–which come mainly through BigCharts.com–slipped to $6.1 million (56 percent of total) from $6.4 million (52 percent of the total). “The reason it was down at all is because we had a couple barter deals last year with newspapers that we don’t have anymore,” CEO Larry Kramer said, according to a Reuters story.
