CNET’s Q3 Results: CNET Networks

CNET’s Q3 Results: CNET Networks had a third-quarter loss narrower than that of the same period last year. CNET’s loss was $307.2 million or $2.21 a share, compared to a net loss of $1.4 billion, or $9.98 a share, in the year-ago quarter. Revenue fell to $56.3 million — $1 million short of Wall Street’s average projection — from $69.3 million.

The company has launched two subscription-based products in recent months to expand its revenue-generating opportunities. In May, it introduced GameSpot Complete, a fee-based service offering gaming news, product demos and reviews, tips and tricks, video game downloads and streaming video files. The service had 37,500 paying users at the end of the September period. More than 75 percent of GameSpot Complete users pay the annual subscription fee, CNET said.
