AvantGo Launches a Subscription Service

AvantGo Launches a Subscription Service for $19.95 a Year: AvantGo (Nasdaq: AVGO), the wireless media access service, has launched a subscription/premium version of its service, priced at $19.95 a year. The service is aimed at users who have devices with the capacity to accommodate 8MB of account channel size capacity, while its 2MB service remains free.

AvantGo creates software that allows handheld owners to download information from a server through the Web, including news articles, stock quotes, and corporate data, and then to view it on a portable device such as Palm or PocketPC. The company’s Mobile Internet Service currently has more than five million users and content from publishers such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CNet Networks, and others. The AvantGo Mobile Internet Service currently has over 6 million registered users, according to the company.
