RealNetworks Launches Game Subscription Service; RealNetworks, in an attempt to duplicate the model of its RealOne digital media subscription service, has launched its new games-subscription service called “GamePass’ that allows users to pay a monthly fee and receive free or discounted computer games to download. It is part of the overhaul of its gaming site earlier called RealArcade and now called RealOne Arcade. The attempt is meant to tightly integrate the gaming service into the RealOne service.
Cost: GamePass allows users to pay a monthly fee of $6.95, which will give them a credit to buy one new game a month and get $5 off the purchase of additional games. Subscribers to the RealOne can join the game delivery program for $4.95. The company said more than 700,000 people have bought games from its download service, most of which range from $5 to $15.
