Classmates.com’s Stories to Be Made in TV Series: In what is perhaps a first for an online community site, Classmates Online, a personal networking service connecting friends, family, military and work colleagues, has entered into an agreement with Pipeline Entertainment to develop a TV series based on the member stories and experiences.
“Planned for launch in Fall 2003, the project will be formulated in both reality-based and dramatic formats. The series will feature true-life stories including former sweethearts falling back in love, friends reviving strong bonds from their youth, adopted children finding birth parents, and military buddies recapturing memories of shared experiences. The show is under development for network television or first-run syndication.”
Classmates.com is one of the biggest subscription-based sites online: It has about 2 million paying subscribers. On a monthly basis, the company is adding 185,000 new subscribers, according to Classmates.com CEO, interviewed in May by News.com.
