AOL Latin America Users Fall: Not directly related to content, but access to content. America Online Latin America expects its membership to decline about 10 percent in the second quarter, reflecting tough economic conditions in local markets as well as more selective marketing toward more valuable customers. The slowdown in subscriber growth partly reflected the company’s move to cut off nonpaying subscribers, as well as financial difficulties in some markets, which has forced the company to accept only cash payments.
