YouTube Launching Its Own Trivia Game: Vidicule
It appears YouTube has made a video trivia game called Vidicule to drive viewers to its content. A demo of Vidicule is live on the site’s home page tonight, at least for logged-in members. If you click to play there’s a sample game hosted by the cute and capable YouTube star Katers17 that shows short video clips and asks loosely related trivia questions. It looks like the game promotes YouTube partner content — the sample that’s live now showcases clips from X-Men Evolution.
All a Google search tells us is that Vidicule is made by the creators of Jellyvision Games. For me personally, that is a very good sign because I absolutely loved Jellyvision’s snarky trivia game You Don’t Know Jack, which has been off the market for years. I loved it so much that I even have a Windows 98 CD-ROM version of it on my bookshelf right now, just waiting for me to buy a vintage PC so I can play it again. So maybe it’s fate that I stumbled on Vidicule tonight.
The Jellyvision site promises, with that sense of humor that cracks me up every time, “VIDICULE ™ combines videos and trivia questions into a doubly entertaining video video game game. Look for it on the web!”

Katers is Great, and so is Jellyvision. When we launched Truth or Fail we had a ton of people telling us we were just ripping off You Don’t Know Jack.
If you’re looking for a more indie version of a YouTube gameshow, Truth or Fail has 10 episodes and about 4.5 million views so far.

I thought this was the coolest thing I’ve seen on the homepage since my first sketch made it there in 2006 – Punchy! All kidding aside, Kate was great and she should be the permanent host!
