Weekend Vid Picks: 2016 Olympics Gets Its Host City
The big news of this Friday was the drama surrounding the selection of the 2016 Summer Olympics host city. Chicago and Tokyo were eliminated first, which was a bit surprising — especially for the folks at CNN.
But then, a few hours later, Rio de Janeiro was awarded the honor.
It’s easy to see why, of course, given their fun and catchy pitch video, which sells the region’s varied terrain, pre-existing sports facilities, and…musically inclined citizens, I guess.
The minor irony of its selection, however, is that since Brazil is located in the southern hemisphere, it’ll technically be winter there. The weather won’t be too bad, though. Just remember to bring a light jacket.
