Weekend Poll: What Do You Think About YouTube’s Latest Upgrades?
Last Friday, YouTube announced a bunch of new features and upgrades to theoretically make our video viewing and uploading lives easier. These included:
- A “playlist bar” that gives the user greater control while watching videos in a playlist, a favorites list or a recommended videos list.
- Local music listings that allow users to find “Events Near You” (a service which then guides you to the concert guide site Songkick.com).
- Upgrades to the annotations feature, including transparency, a new default color and a cleaner look.
- A redesigned My Videos page that streamlines the process of managing and reviewing content.
- Free previews on rental titles, which is currently seen in action for the New Line film Kick-Ass
So tell us this: Which of these new features do you think has the most value for YouTube users? Go ahead and vote in the poll below.
And what features are you still waiting for YouTube to implement? Fill us in in the comments!

Where’s the poll option for none of these?
In fact, I just tweeted for help on getting rid of the upgrades.
The only interesting one is the local music listings one because it’s good for event discovery. It could add an important new revenue stream to YouTube as well.
The My Video upgrades haven’t hit YouTube Partners. It’s really annoying how YouTube has to divide its new features for users. One of the new features that YouTube announced at VidCon is your Twitter feed displaying on YouTube videos. I think that will be amazingly useful to keep viewers across all my videos up to date on the latest happenings.
