The YouTube on iPhone Speed Test
We weren’t looking to make an Apple commercial, we promise! But while goofing around on Friday we decided to test a first-generation iPhone’s speed at accessing and loading a YouTube video against one of the new ones released yesterday. For the tests, we turned both phones’ Wi-Fi off. The result? Ten seconds to load a video on the new 3G network and 20 seconds on EDGE. OK, so 10 seconds isn’t fantastic, but the old version really is twice as bad. So much so that 3G iPhone users might even consider watching video on the fly.

The Avot Media video transcoder allows videos to startup twice as fast as the native YouTube app! To Liz’s point, user’s expect instant startup. With Avot technology, that’s what they get. See demo:

Liz, How many “bytes” was in the Youtube video download? Is there a limit on the bytes you can download/upload per month in your agreement?
