that "samberg medley" had the feel of a future cult classic to me. not because it "rocked" or "sucked" but because it is such a bizarre combination of mainstream and fringe.

This article sums up exactly what I have been trying to say! I agree with every word.

If MTV has to attract me to their awards show by getting an actually talented host, then so be it...I'll watch. But yeah, Andy would never put himself in the spotlight in front of his other two dudes. That was all MTV.

And yeah, I loved how Andy got away with announcing what he had to (about Twilight and other lame pop culture), but also discretely making fun of it too. I think that only true fans that know the Lonely Island's kind of comedy would pick up those secret underlying messages. It was almost like the three dudes were reminding us that, hey, they might be making it big...but they will never conform.

I couldn't agree more. I am a fan of the Lonely Island guys, with and without SNL so when I watched the portion of the showed titled Samberg Melody, I was a little peeved! And not to take away from Andy, but its the 3, collectively, that are brilliant at what they do. Maybe Jorma & AKiva don't mind, as a fan, I'm going to state: I mind. Still, the show was good, the material was great and to the 3 of them, Akiva, Jorma & Andy Thank-you!
