Hey Craig,

While I understand the excitement at the possibilities of online video, I feel that the "interactive" thing will not catch on. In my (cynical) opinion, your description of these shows remind me a lot of the old "Choose-your-own-ending" books we read in the 3rd and 4th grade. These books were an awesome premise, but the ending we chose never really played out like we wanted to, and in the end all that flipping through pages to find the ending we chose was not worth the effort.

As I predict this interactive stuff will be. Sometimes people just want to sit back and be entertained without having to put any effort in. Now, while that sounds lazy, it also is I believe the job of some creative writer which may be jeopardized by free user input writing the story for him. Here comes the cynicism: it may just be another way to cut costs, in this case writers, by expecting more from viewers who are getting paid nothing except the potential reward of seeing their idea on some obscure web show. Once that novelty wears off, I think it will go the way of the dodo.

But I wouldn't mind being wrong on that.

Great post, Craig. We're really fond of both It's All in Your Hands (Satacracy 88-- they also have some other great interactive shows) and iChannel at Revver, and are looking forward to what Slickster is up to. These folks are pioneering the way in this medium. Oh, and I'm a devoted Epic-Fu Mix member, too.

Is it really interactive?

There are degrees and varying definitions as to what constitutes "interactive." Most of the examples listed (all of them?) seem to revolve around social interactivity and User's thinking their opinion may matter to the Creators.

For a more tactile straight forward "interactive video" that looks like it will start being applied to story based content, this looks promising and without a doubt qualifies as "really interactive."
