Liz, you’re right in that many of these other video management vendors have relationships with Akamai (they are the big dog in the space afterall). However, the real value for publishers comes from combining KickApps with Akamai’s Stream OS to give them the unique ability to easily create and manage video players using KickApps’ drag & drop Video Player Studio. These video players come integrated out of the box with a full suite of social elements, which are key to engagement & increased traffic for online video (e.g. Rating, tagging, commenting, sharing, etc.). This coupled with the power of Akamai’s CDN and Stream OS’ enterprise level video management system (e.g. mass ingesting, geo restrictions, business workflows, etc.) gives publishers (especially large media brands) what they need to excel and differentiate themselves on the social web with flexibility, customizability and far superior economics. We saw a big hole in the market and the relationship with Stream OS will fill this.
