I think you're completely incorrect in this regard. One of the main reasons people like Violet Blue call on vloggers, bloggers and casters to respect fairness and accuracy is because as a community we recognize the liberties taken by and failures of mainstream news outlets.

This is why people like Amanda Congdon are so violently repulsive to our community. They are the mainstream media's attempt at colonizing the blogging world and extending their creeping bloat, while at the same time undermining the attempts of this community towards legitimacy and acceptance.

And yes it is Congdon's fault. Congdon has done everything willingly. That's not to say mainstream media isn't ALSO to blame. But she is most definitely guilty of her own actions.
