Baww baww baww. Cut down on piracy by allowing everyone in the world to view your website, not just your racist neighborhood of local friends, and by giving people jobs so they can afford to pay for your goods. Also, remove ads from DVDs and offer lots of special content. You're in TV, you don't DO any actual work except you get to have your say and project it into people's living rooms. And to hear someone on the internet whining against piracy is just laughable. What a stooge.

Hey, Duncan -- didn't know about the geoblocking outside the US -- that sucks, and you're thus definitely correct about my use of the word "global" not being the best choice.

And while WoM's US airdate is in fact not as impressive as End of Time, Part 1, it is frankly much better than the previous Doctor Who specials aired this year: Planet of the Dead (approximately a three month gap) and The Next Doctor (a six month gap). So going from a six-month gap to a one-day gap in one year? Something to applaud.

"its release is just the latest example of BBC Worldwide’s recent commitment towards engaging Doctor Who’s global fan base — and, presumably, cutting down on piracy"

Really, because it's georetarded outside the US, I can't watch it.

Better still, the same page is promoting the US premiere of The Waters of Mars December 19...despite it having aired in the UK November 15. I don't think holding a program back for a month really comes anywhere close to what your suggesting in the post.
