I worked as script editor and creative director of a major Talent Agency for 10 years, latterly trying to conceive such new media mock masterpieces as this concept. If we’re looking at re-inventing movie production for the networked world we shouldn’t be basing business models on DVD sales and asses on seats at the multiplex. The only films that work at mutliplexes (and I ain’t got the stats to hand) and blockbuster action pics and endless sequels – indie films that match the less than $10m budget don’t do good business in those venues. We be better looking at re-evaluating what people want to watch with a view to marrying budgets to new distribution models like p2p.

I wish they every success, but I just can’t see this working.

Don’t we already have movies where the script has more co-writers and re-writes than cast members?

I believe they’re called “action movies”.

Still, “this movie’s been blow-torched to death…” has a nicer ring than “this movie’s been focus-grouped to death….”

Especially if you’ve seen the movie Hostel.
