3 Free Ways to Transfer Content from TiVo to Almost Any Device
While TiVo already provides free recording transfer software for PC users, Mac users need to shell out $80 for Roxio Toast to move recordings to their computers. If you want to convert shows to formats playable on an iPod, iPhone, or MP3 player, proprietary software solutions mean you have to cough up even more cash. As OStatic points out, though, the open source community has come to the rescue with three completely free applications that will work with many formats and most devices and computers. iTiVo is great for moving shows to iPods and iPhones, TiVo File Decoder does a good job of conversion to MP3 format, and SeasonPassGetter automatically transfers regularly scheduled programs to iTunes. You can do that? You can transfer stuff from TiVo to a Mac? Cool! Thanks for the tip!
Thats great, now i only need to get a tivo to put your tips to use.
There is even an easier way. Go out and buy an (analog) DVD recorder. Put between your TiVo and your TV. Then, when you want to make a DVD of a TiVo program, just play it throught the DVD recorder and record it. Bang done. Want copies, just shove the DVD into your computer and copy the VIDEO_TS files.
