I don't think many doubt Sony's ability to pretty things up. ;-)

But all those UI transitions, no matter how smooth, just slow the user down as they wait for things to fade/fly/zoom in, so the actual net benefit is null at best.

That said, as an Android fan (G1, CLIQ) I'm all for a company upping the ante and supplying adequate processing power.

But you'll have to pardon my lack of enthusiasm, what with the Eclair-fed, DROID all "Google Experience"-d and here NOW, the fact that X10 drops 1st quarter NEXT YEAR is almost snore-inducing.

First time to see Sony-ericcson all "balls-deep" on a new smartphone in particular an android phone. We agree, that Xperia has a bitter history on older models. Hopefully, this X10 release will turned out to be a happy-ending. But still, this phone has a far way to go on competing the iPhone kind or the Killer-Droid

looks bigger & thicker than the HTC HD2, certainly doesnt make as good of use of the bezel.

considering how much Sony has been bungling up everything they do lately, its almost as if theyve lost touch with reality. it gives me ALOT of doubt as to how well they will pull off the software & continue to update/maintain it.

its ashame too, at 1 time Sony was a well respected company & now they are somewhat a joke.

I have a feeling SE are going to cock this up like they did the release of the X1.

Everything looks OK in the video with the pretty blonde but the UI was unbearably sluggish in the hands-on video that Engadget put up a few hours ago. Sure, it's not the final release of the software but look how long it took them to get their Panel interface working on WinMo and the final release was severely lacking.

All this plus the inclusion of an old version of Android would make me nervous if I was interested in one of these.
