Actually the Belkin “Cable Free USB” hub has been out for a couple of months now. It was initially slated for January this year but was pushed and not released until late February early March. You can find it on Amazon, Buy.com, or Belkin direct for $199.99 which isn’t bad considering the quoted price I saw for the Gefen. I’ve been meaning to get one but most of my peripherals are already BT enabled so I keep postponing it. Good to see that the tech is starting to get out to market though. Any solution that gets rid of wires is good with me!

I won’t hold my breath on this. Belkin announced a wireless USB hub more than a year ago and it’s still not here. However, I believe the Belkin hub was using 802.11g, while this one is RF (and only includes drivers for Windows XP SP2 – read back to the source), so I’m guessing it has a better chance of seeing the light of day.

Are Bluetooth or WIFI able to do this job, with the correct software? The technology must be the same?

The main thing I would be looking for in a wireless hub would be Monitor VGA/Digital out. Suchas the R400s Docking. This would make desktop docking perfect.
