Any way at this late date to get the beta preview of vista and office 12? (and OneNote 12)?

Hmmm...I wonder if OEMs will begin pre-installing it on new machines in November. A lot of people buy new machines around Christmas and if Vista is not pre-installed, it might be a hard sell to a consumer who just bought a new computer a couple of months earlier.

A lot of end users won't go through the hassle of upgrading anyway, instead waiting until they buy a new unit with Vista pre-installed before making the switch from XP. Pre-installed installations is how Microsoft will make the most market penetration with Vista, so that is where I would focus my attention. YMMV.

This doesn't sound like the smartest strategy to me.

After forcing myself to continue "self hosting" on 5308 I can't say I'm surprised. :-(

What was it the admiral said in Under Siege "Sounds like they've got a lot of trouble on that ship."

What I find interesting is no mention of Office 2007, or are they just officially joined at the hip now?

Sounds like a good call to me! Everyone knows that the XP out-of-the-box experience is very lackluster. Having a few months delay for a better product should be worth it! Plus, the hardware for Vista will be cheaper by then, especially for Core Duo (with x64, Viiv) Tablet PCs!
