Getting back to XP is easy, just run the OS restore from the h/w buttons. Check the pamphlet that came with the S5, it's easy to do and only takes about 20 minutes.

It came installed with XP. It had all the tid-bit drivers that was descripted in the box and all. Just that a friend of mine convinced me to try installing Windows 7 on it. He did it for me, but made sure to not over-write the previous OS. I'm trying to get back to XP from Windows 7, which I'm not too sure about.

Hey James! Hope ya can help me out here.. I've tried installing Windows 7 on the S5.. and had lots of trouble finally getting it through. But I experienced so many other inconveniences that you've also mentioned in your reviews and blogs. So I'm planning to switch back down to Windows XP.. I've actually still have the Windows XP old file recovered on my Viliv, but I don't have much of a clue on how to recover my Viliv back to XP. I've got an ok Idea how it works with Vista but not too sure with 7. Any help, info, hints, leads, etc.. would greatly appreciated! ^^ hope you can help.. I've been driving myself insane trying to fix this problem. hehe

Pressing the d-pad button gets me to the AMI preboot with 2 options, normal boot, and "recovery boot". NEITHER of which gets me to a BIOS screen.

So what's the _real_ magic to getting to the BIOS screen w/out having to attach a keyboard. Which defeats the purpose as I can't, then, select to boot off of the usb because no usb drive is attached.

Does anyone have a list of chipsets for this? Knowing the touchscreen's chipset make+model, wireless chipset, IDE, etc, should make it easy to work out how well Linux might run on it.
Touchscreen support in kernel 2.6.28+ and latest X.Org is very solid and seems to cover quite a few more touch-screens cf. when I orginally fought with my Samsung Q1....
I also noticed Viliv's X7O supports Linux, and I'm guessing they're sharing several chipsets across models to control costs.
