I’m doing it now. No OS X on my machine. I got fed up, put the Win 7 CD in the superdrive, rebooted, held down alt/opt, booted from the windows 7 CD, formatted everything else on the hard drive and now up and running smooth as butter. Everything works a treat.

I am running 32bit vista on my pc, when upgrading to Se7en should i go 64-bit?
is it possible to solely run windows seven on a macbook, no mac os?

What did I buy my Vista for? To fill up their quarterly report earnings and growth?

Or did I pay my sum for them to bust up a better patch like Windows 7?

Now with craps like the damn new office and the ribbon Onenote? How much the consumer will pay for their greed? I come to realize how much money we have wasted for their every 2 to three years update. Our incremental productivity is completely offset by the cost we have been paying.

I just finished installing Windows 7 on my Macbook under Bootcamp and must say it runs nicely so far. I am planning on installing it on the P1610 soon, any of you guys that have do the Fujitsu Vista drivers work?

I have it installed and running on my HP 2710p, Fujitsu p1610 and Fujitsu p1510. I was expecting it to run well on the 2710p, but I am amazed how well it is running on the p1610 and p1510. The p1510 handles Windows 7 as well or better than XP SP2 with it’s Pentium M processor.

I am having some screen calibration issues on the Fujitsu machines. I assume it is just a driver issue and I must say I was surprised that it even had drivers available for the older machines.

The only challenge I had with the 2710p was getting the built in WWAN drivers to install. I finally was able to get it working by extracting the installer and running it in Vista compatibility mode.

I’ve been running it for a couple days now and it looks good. No User Account Control, yeah! However my first impression is that it looks a lot like Vista, other than the taskbar!

If your Win 7 install was infected by spyware, there’s really no way to “disinfect” it to the point where it’s trustworthy. The only solution is a wipe and reinstall. That is, if you’re planning on using it anymore.

Anyway, yes, probably tracking cookies and since there are only 3 Windows 7 compatible AV programs (Norton, Kaspersky, and AVG) in beta form, any one of them is probably being obnoxious (especially Norton).

How hot does it get?
MacBook Pro with Fusion and XP Pro gets too hot for only one USB powered fan. Needs a double fan pad to allow cool multi-tasking on 2 OS’s in summer heat.

Quality of anti-virus application selection will never change. Any anti-virus worth running would have PREVENTED malware getting near the OS.

Trial a real AV program such as Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 for Win7 and observe that it affects nothing resource-wise besides doing it’s job when triggered.

Stay away from such malware-loaded sites anyways.
