7 has always been viewed as a sign of perfection. If W7 is the fixing of Vista which was meant to bring a new “view” for Windows, then perhaps Windows 7 is the Perfect View. :)

As for Windows Mobile 7… well, if the new interface for WM7 ends up being as good as they claim, then it might just end up having some similarity with Windows 7, at which point, they’ll finally be on track with Windows Versions again, since Windows Server 7 will be right behind it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a similar stroke of genius when Microsoft is pitted against Snow Leopard. Windows 720 or 1080, anyone? It won’t be long until they shift to Stardate notation.
