I ready to take the plunge into one of these convertible netbook tablets. The inking (ink to text) recognition is extremely important, as I have every intention of using the unit as a Mind Mapping netbook. A light-weight mind mapping device, to capture client meetings, seminars, etc.

Ideally I’d like to run Mind Manager or iMindMaps vs running one of the web based products. I rather connect to my web docs on Google Apps but have the mind mapping application resident on the netbook. Has anyone tried running either Mind Manager or iMindMaps on a netbook tablet?

I’ve got W7 RC ready to install on my OQO and unused Electrovaya, and my primary machine, Fujitsu P4220, but there too heavy for taking notes all day in tablet mode.

I had to only install a few of the Vista drivers for the screen buttons and rotation. Alot of improvement can be seen from XP’s Tablet PC & Vista.

Use it to log daily patient visits, log initial reports, etc. 99% of drivers installed automatically from Windows.

I tried the original beta, then I tried the RC, and no luck. With the RC, I was able to get everything working right, except for the video. Its a real pain when you cannot rotate the screen on your tablet pc. Lets hope for good drivers in the final version. For now, back to Vista.

It wasn’t calibrated properly, but the Calibration tool in the Tablet PC Control Panel app fixed that with a 16-point calibration. No other extra steps were needed. I’m sure this device hasn’t passed the logo certification, but it doesn’t seem to matter to my Samsung. :)
