Win7 is more of my impressions based on the beta, plus I’ve not been entirely thrilled with Vista on the Fujitsu with some applications. I’d stick with XP but feel some new applications just won’t support it. LiveMesh for instance seems to have errors (stalled in starting mode) on some XP systems mine included.

How can you activate icons an Active screen?

The huge bezels make the size of the device larger and
heavier, thus defeating the “portablitiy”

youve obviously never used a vertical device. where are you going to put your hands when using the device? on the screen? smudging it, inadvertently activating icons, etc.

Bezel, oh sweet bezel….

It would be nice if someone could make a 10″ active
screen with OUT the huge bezel, thus making the unit
smaller, but having a decent size screen in proportion
to the computer.

Why is running Windows 7 so important to you? I hear a lot of people talking about that with netbook-class devices and I’m still not sure what people expect to get extra out of Win7.

Most of these slates will not do inking well if at all so it can’t be that. The special touch optimization that Windows 7 brings to the table is only activated for devices that are certified by Microsoft as touch optimized and I don’t think any of these cheap devices will get that certification.

I’m just confused about the Windows 7 mania with netbooks and convertible netbook devices.

Which would you expect to be the better convertible tablet? I’ve been eyeing the T91 for months, but am worried about battery life, storage capacity, screen resolution and handwriting recognition. I’m looking for the lightest convertible tablet I can find that can still run Windows 7 (or Xp or Vista). I love my Fujitsu T4220 but it’s a heavy load to take notes on in long meetings or seminars.

If that battery life is even close to correct, I’d sign up for one in a minute. Part of the reason I’ve stopped hankering for the T91 is that I need something that can go with me all day. This looks darn close to perfect.
