I agree with you, James. I found the various docks -- RocketDocket, ObjectDock -- to cumbersome to use. I discovered Stardoc Fences and haven't looked back. It's absolutely ideal for the S5, because you can either have the clusters of icons on your desktop or you can hide them all (and you can make exceptions if, for example, you always want the recycling bin to be visible) with a simple double-click.

JK, I managed to download and install uBoard from this link -> http://sylverbee.free.fr/UboardSetup.zip which I found through an extensive Google search!

It looks the same as the one in your screenshot, but I'm not sure if the version number is identical.

The most valuable thing for me working with my Q1 has been Kevin's suggestion to use Display Properties (in XP) or Personalize (in Vista) to widen the scroll bar and title bar. That also helped with an early Acer Tablet I had because the active digitizer was less accurate as you approached the edge of the screen.

I also keep a handful Yahoo! widgets ready to show battery, memory, and wifi network and strength.

And Process Explorer to help me locate run-away processes, but that's good for more than just UMPCs.

Not so much UMPC related, admittedly, but I have used SoftLEDs for remote support. Oftentimes, a computer may be doing something with the hard drive but if you're not there to see the blinking LED it can appear that the system is hung especially if there's no corresponding CPU hit in the Task Manager. SoftLEDs lets me know something is going on.
