My second battery for the Viliv S5 UMPC arrived today; that’s the extra battery that’s part of the Dynamism promotion. I was surprised to see that the folks at Viliv also sent some of the primary accessories for the S5 for me to share with you. Thanks to Viliv for allowing me to show you the accessories.
First up is the battery charger, something that will come in handy with the second battery. It’s a simple charger; just slide the battery into the slot and it charges it up, leaving you free to use (or charge) the S5 with the other one. It has a LED that glows red while charging and it turns green when the battery is full.
Next up is the VGA cable, something that will appeal to many who wish to use the S5 with an external monitor. It plugs into the special jack on the S5 (see picture) and has a standard VGA jack on the other end. The cable is about 6 inches long.
Viliv also offers a video out cable that has six RCA plugs (plus an S-video plug) on one end to connect the S5 to just about any TV or video device you can imagine. It has the same special jack on the other end of the cable that plugs into the S5.
The case for the S5 I’ve shown before, but not in great detail, so there are better photos in the gallery. This is a leather case that has a magnetic closure on the flap and three plastic snaps to hold the S5 in place.
The car kit that Viliv has available for the S5 has a custom mount that you snap the S5 into when you want to use it. The kit comes with the mount and a car charger.

Do you know if Dynamism’s promo include the stand-alone battery charger? I don’t see the charger as a separate item on their site. Thanks.

Can you summarize the software that you’ve loaded along with the links to get them. Received mine today. Also, how do you change the font size for us older folks?
Software- just load what you need, it will run anything. Font size- you can set that in each program and set the DPI in Display Settings.

I bought one of these and didn’t an OQO.
I have been using an OQO 02 for the last two years, for an average of ten minutes per day for taking attendance, recording grades and printing out unit notes, quizzes and tests. I rely on it utterly, despite my light daily use. Now, with OQO seemingly on the brink of oblivion, I want to look elsewhere. Does the S5 have a touchscreen numeric keypad that I can use to enter numbers in a spreadsheet and cursor down or across to the next field? If it does, it could replace my OQO 02, though I am loathe to replace it.
Yes, the on-screen keyboard installed by Viliv has a number mode that provides a number keypad.

Have you ever tested it with some GIS software such as ArcView or ArcPAD?, we are interesting to know if this UMPC can work with this kind of software, due we are looking for cheap devices to field survey GIS/GPS activities.
Does it run Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Leopard)? Thanks.
