Video Recording with the Palm Pre — Precorder
Palm Pre owners have been waiting patiently for the homebrew community to open up video recording, since Palm hasn’t seen fit to enable it yet. The time has come with the release of Precorder into alpha testing. Precorder is still bare bones but can record video at 30 fps in MPEG-4, H.263, and H.264/AVC.
Precorder records video at 480×320 at 30 fps and can use the flash for low light situations. How does the recorded video look? See for yourself.

Looks pretty good. So Kevin is your Pre still on Notice? :)
It does look nice, but it doesn’t buy my Pre any time. It’s still on notice until January or February. Aside from the great browser, my Pre feels more like a cross between a high-end feature phone and a smartphone these days, which is shame. I keep turning to other devices for specific app functionality because it’s faster than using similar functions in the browser on my Pre. Or if there is a comparable app on the Pre, I’m finding similar apps have more functionality on other platforms or are faster / easier to use. That’s just me though. Many folks are thrilled with the Pre for their needs and usage patterns. :)
I am almost thrilled of my Palm Pre, it is a great phone no doubt about (better than my motorola q9c!) but only thing lacking is more 3rd party software (or ver useful ones, still waiting for Dataviz Docs2Go) and most of all speed, still needs some tweaking in that department, sometimes I am able to multitask with more than 5 apps opened, other times not even 2 apps opened without getting the ” too many cards open” error, other times it even takes awhile to open a single app, aside from (which wife agrees too as she has one too) we are holding off in buying accessories for it, my Pre has a notice until next June, if by then it improves through software updates, is a keeper, otherwise it will be replaced since by then there will be better choices like the upcoming HTC HD2. I do like the WebOS and it’s notification status alot though. Palm could have a winner if the implement WebOS to the famous Treo line (not Centro) but like Treo 600/700 series with capacitive touch screen, autofocus camera, 8gigs built in with SD card slot, BETTER battery life with at least 12hr normal use if the manage to create something like that (as far a circuit boards) like the Palm Pre, think of the possibilities for the Treo 600!
Hey Whats up guys! I was wondering could u tell me how to get the precorder on my palm pre without rooting it or does it have to get rooted?
