Video of 2 Touch Interfaces for Windows Tablets
Windows 7 may run on touch tablets, but it’s not optimized for such operation. A number of companies are working on getting Windows-based tablets to market, and they will all suffer from inadequate touch control. There are third-party touch interfaces on the market (or soon to be released) that sit on top of Windows and present a user interface that is designed to make tablets better at touch operation. We take a look at two such interfaces in this video: Thinix Touch and Mirabyte FrontFace.
Both apps are similar in function, but vary in the method of hiding Windows from the tablet user. Thinix takes the basic approach of turning the screen into an application launcher, while FrontFace provides a touch desktop complete with launcher, task manager and more. Window 7 isn’t the best OS for touch tablets, but these utilities make the user experience much more tolerable.

Wow that was painful to watch. It is obvious that Win7 will never be great on a tablet. Unlike Mac OS X which will soon adopt many iPad tablet features.
If I was a windows user best to just stick with the notebooks & netbooks and leave the tablets to Apple and Google who seems to know more what they are doing these days.
If you enjoy train wrecks than Microsoft is the place to be on the tablet cause its going to be ugly, very ugly.
Thanks for the review James. I am going to load them up on my tc1100 and see what I can do.
As a long time tablet user, my opinion is that these launchers don’t help at all. Since… they’re just launchers at best they help you get to your programs easier but once the program launches you’re still left with an app that wasn’t meant to be manipulated by touch only.
The better thing to do is to customize Windows to be more touch friendly and relearn how to interact with Windows via touch only instead of thinking of solving problems with a mouse and keyboard.
While the iOS users will pump their chest screaming “There was no need to relearn how to use an iPad” they have to remember that the iPad is pretty much an enlarged iPhone interface wise and they’ve had a lot of experience working with it. Try giving it to someone who never touched an iOS device before and see how long it takes them to get used to the naunces of the platform.
