But so is regular displayport. Mini displayport is unnecessary for laptops and is just a flimsy version of regular displayport which makes you less likely to have the right cable to hand.

Sounds wonderful, especially the higher resolution. I just bought a Samsung 2333HD and I’m realizing even 1920×1080 is not that great for comfortable reading, even with subpixel smoothing, hinting and all those tricks.
