Verizon Droid Video Appears — It is Tasty Thin
We’ve got a review Droid on the way (somewhere), but meanwhile our buds at engadget shot a short video that shows just how thin the phone is. Have a look at the video and see why everything I’ve seen on the web so far is positive.

I don’t understand why the on board memory is so low compared to the iphone. Isn’t that going to be an issue with apps and performance?
Don’t they both have the same amount of system memory?
Not as far as I know – I think the droid has 512 onboard, 16 on a micro sd card
# PROCESSOR SPEED
Arm® Cortex™ A8 processor 550 mHz
# REMOVABLE MEMORY7
16 GB microSD pre-installed; supports up to 32 GB microSD expandable
# SENSORS
Proximity, ambient light and eCompass
Any news on Flash support, or Google Wave integration, like the Nokia N900?
I am seeing reports of 512mb onboard memory, of which only 256mb is free for apps.
Iphone wins again if that turns out to be true.
Android uses memory differently than the iPhone. There is a 16 GB memory card on the Droid for storage. Android apps go in the system memory, but they are very small apps as a rule. The G1 has less memory but I’ve installed many apps with no problem.
I think I’m missing something. My understanding was that the iPhone 3GS has 256MB of system memory… same as the Droid, no?
Actually, I think you’re right Kevin. And in my experience Android apps are very small in size as a rule.
if you cant have compelling UI like the Pre/iPhone you need compelling hardware. obviously Android does not have a compelling UI, its still very PC-ish. so far i am not impressed AT ALL by the new Droids, theyre just so tacky looking. i know sites like this have jumped on the Droid wagon, but you guys jump on every wagon that comes along, so youre hard too take seriously.
EASILY the best hardware to come along lately was HTC HD2, thats what Droid needs, to bad its stuck with WinMo.
Hopefully we’ll see an Android version of the HD2 soon. HTC has hinted we will.

Yup, you caught me on the bandwagon for sure — the one that’s *passing* on the Droid: http://twitter.com/KevinCTofel/status/5241723717 Seriously. ;)
