Using EV-DO in the field
Houston realtor Steve Castaneda has the right idea by getting equipped with the right tools. He uses a Toshiba M400 Tablet PC to access contracts in the field and find that perfect house for his clients. He is conducting a 15 day trial of the Verizon BroadbandAccess EV-DO network and is blogging about his experience. He is having trouble getting good connectivity when he enters a building using the PC5740 EV-DO modem, something that I don’t have trouble with while using my V620 modem card. See if you can get Verizon to swap it out, Steve. It might not fix your problem but I can attest how well the V620 works for me. Glad to hear you are using the Tablet PC. Something I’ve often wondered is why more realtors don’t adopt the Tablet for field work.

Thanks for taking a look at my comments on using wireless capabilities in the real estate world! I’m planning on making a shift over to the newer version PC Card, and was even thinking on the V620 as you suggested.
I’m going to try the V620 this week and post up again to detail my experiences.
Thanks again!
It’s me again! I just wrote up a new post about going about to exchange the card over at TechForAgents.com. I was surprised to find out that the V620 was an older version, and that the V5740 was the latest card from Verizon Wireless. Unfortunately, since they had to order the card and would take the one I had before they would order, I decided to wait a bit longer and test around the city in case my experiences are related to my specific location.
Thanks again for the advice, and I’ll enjoy reading your blog!
