Mtoc: Would be nice, but instead I paid them (well, Costco) $19 for that product plus a 4-port powered USB hub. Much better deal, but it doesn’t seem fair to compare sale prices.

I love 2-for-1 (or 4-for-1)chargers. I used 2 Monster travel power strips and they were life savers.
Your new MacBook should charge via USB while sleeping as long as you leave it plugged in. Did this not work?

This would’ve been great last week — a week away on business, and stupidly thinking that I could just charge the iPhone from my laptop — turned out to be a pain in the ass with the laptop always being on at night, etc.

Not the best deal. Belkin offers a mini surge protector with three AC outlets and two USB ports for the same price. Obviously not as compact and it does lack a car adapter, but a real geek should already have a car AC adapter.

i have not tested with one i have here, but i cant help wonder if a usb hub would allow the charging of multiple devices from a single port…

Many power strips now include USB ports, allowing you to pack one device with two uses. A true geek travels with a power strip.
