I also have the xv6700. I have been trying to install eReader (not pro)for smartphones onto my device and have trouble when I get to "establishing connection with ce device". My pda is on and connected, but a "debug failure" happens everytime. Any tips?

Hi there, I was wondering if you could tell me if you are able to use voice dial with your bluetooth? I am looking at this phone in sprint version vs. treo 700wx which I just found out that palm/treo does NOT support voice dial on bluetooth headset. I was ready to buy the sprint ppc-6700 and the rep said too many problems..get a treo. From reading your posts it appears this (6700)is a good smartphone. Any help would be appreciated. Best Regards,Brian

I'm becoming more and more irritated by my 700w's lack of program memory. It has forced me to stop using applications that I want to use (Pocket Informant, for example, because it's so slow and forces any other running app to close) and prevents me from utilizing useful software like Voice Command due to the massive memory hit that it requires to run. The fact that most of the time I can't run Media Player and IE at the same time because there's not enough RAM for both to run unless I soft reset every day is very irritating.

James, I don't mean this to make you feel guilty, but one of the reasons I ultimately decided on the 700w over the XV6700 back in May is that you used the 700w. ;-) As I browse in IE with images turned off because displaying them consumes so much RAM and the device becomes too slow, I kick myself softly. I knew it had memory "issues" when I bought it, but thought I'd be content working around it. I'm not. I wonder if VZW would cut me a deal if I switched to the XV6700... I'll probably just stick it out until sometime next year; the low memory is really the only issue I have with this device. The one-handed functionality afforded by the always-visible hardware keyboard is a real benefit, and one that I think I'd miss with the XV6700. I'm also someone who likes my devices to be fully functional while in as small a case as possible, so I use a "skin" case on my Treo. I have yet to see an XV6700 case that appeals to me from a usability perspective.

You guys are so right! I promise to never ever again text while driving...not even those prepopulated canned messages I set up for quick responses so I wouldn't be distracted. In fact, I am going to turn my phone completely off if I forget my bluetooth headset or for some reason it's not working. Further, I vow to not listen to the radio or eat while driving. I am going to ask all passengers to remain quiet and watchful during my daily three hour drives so as to not distract - especially on the trips between San Antonio and Corpus Christi where the lack of cars on the road may lull me to sleep. I will ask all people who text me to be prepared to wait for a return response for up to three hours while I drive - even just the simple yes and no answers...

I hope I have redeemed myself from my obvious foot-in-the-mouth set-myself-up public question...

I agree about the Spb applications. My Today screen is 100% Spb, except for the date plugin. I have Diary, Time, GPRS monitor (sorry, I'm Canadian ;) ), and Weather all integrated into Spb Pocket Plus as tabs. One handed navigation of the entire Today screen is unbelievably useful!

Completely agree with the hosted Exchange server. Due to beta testing of software as well as reviewing hardware, I have no less than five computing instances with Outlook running; regardless of which device, partition or OS I use, I can log into Outlook on any of them and have my current e-mail all nice and tidy. Hm..now that I re-read this, I wonder if I have an e-mail addiction?

I've been asked by several people via email how I got all those years of Palm PIM data into the new XV. First of all, the Treo I dumped was the Windows Mobile version so that was not an issue. Second of all, since I use a hosted Exchange Server, something I recommend everyone do since they can be had for as cheap as $5 per month, this is a non-issue anyway. I have 4 devices constantly in sync with each other and with the server because of the Exchange Server. It is a real boon to have.
