It's Interesting that the Toshiba TG01 only has two buttons on the front - the home and the back buttons - and they look capacitative at that. The dial and hang-up buttons are implemented within the soft key area which is new in a WM device.

Not a bad looking device but also nothing truly compelling - 4.1 inches of WVGA is very nice, but the size is a drawback and the rest of the device is just "standard" Windows Mobile.

The speedy CPU may be a selling point - but on the other hand I have yet to find the 528 MHz one in my HTC phone to be in my way due to lack of speed.

Interesting but I'm thinking "niche product".

"look a bit big in the video."
And I can tell you, it's not just in the video but it's as big. And really, I have a regular sized hand! ;-)

I was at the launch event in London last night, and had a chance to play with the TG01 for a while. I found Toshiba's UI disappointing compared to the consistency and depth of HTC's TouchFLO 3D; there were also quite a few crashes, though that might have been an issue with the demo unit I was looking at.

I'm reserving judgment until the review units come in, but my initial impression was of an attractive device with an awesome display (dwarfed the Touch HD I'd brought along to compare with it) undermined by software.

I notice everytime you mention Windows Mobile you make a snide comment. I had a Windows Mobile for 4 years and then recently for work I have downgraded to an iPhone. I really miss a decent mail and calendaring client which for me is the core of a smartphone.
