You’re right Kevin you will want that dock most likes although it will be expensive. For pure s/w installation you can get a cheap external USB drive or use another drive on the network. Of course, you often can’t boot from those.

3.5 pounds in a convertible design: sweet! The dock optical drive is almost a must have for software installation and that tacks on another $200+…hmm…I hope these drop in price relatively quickly.
