The Smartphone Scene Today

The smartphone world is growing at a rapid pace, and it’s a good idea to keep up with the players. I got a good opportunity to take a long view (subscription required) of the smartphone world and produce a comprehensive look at the different platforms.
Analysts see Android as coming on strong, while Symbian keeps dropping on the charts. If you’re interested in seeing how the different platforms stack up, check out the report.

As this is not going to go-OM-away I thought to at least make a stand as a daily reader –>
Not going to happen dear OM network – as much as I like reading J&K here on a regular basis I will not pay for papers. Opinions are free and consulting I will buy elsewhere.

I understand. Just trying to make a living. Glad you’re here, though. :)
bah, advertisements are for income, content is supposed to be free, right?
Our content here is free.:)
I would rather support the site than enrich the whole network. And thanks for understanding my point and not get mad over it.
Hello,
As a long time reader of your blog as well as others on GigaOM, I feel compelled to comment on this thread. This is the first time I have been directed to paid content and I am very disappointed in this development. I understand the need to be rewarded financially for your work – I really do, but when you say that “our content here is free” you need to understand that there was almost no content in this posting. This smacks of the old “bait and switch” tactic that irritates all consumers. I wouldn’t mind having to pay for in-depth, multiple page coverage on an issue that I am very interested in but I am very reluctant to pay for a blog posting. Clicking to read a few more “empty” postings will soon train me not to click at all.
How often can we expect to see these subscription required articles? Is there some sort of quota you have to meet each month? Or maybe some sort of ‘if its over a page it isn’t free’ theme? I would like to know what criteria will make something subscription required. I don’t have anything against the other GigaOm content, but I’m a gadget guy. Paying for a bunch of content that I don’t want doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
These articles are not a part of jkOTR. You can just ignore them if you wish, we only mention them for those who might be interested.
