The voting is pretty good. I read several tach blog sites and by jkOnTheRun is very good. There are several others that I read which are highly regarded but suprisingly were not on the list.

slashdot is a message board (more like usenet news groups) where Linux junkies hang out an bash Microsoft. It’s not truly “independent” if you look at “who we are” on their site you’ll see they are owned by a major news organization publicly traded on NASDAQ.

And, btw, I took a look at your competition. I think you’re the cream of the crop (along with SlashDot, of course… they’re already sort of a standard on the web.)
I’d say that if you don’t have any kids you better have some quick – you’re gonna need help keeping the site full of content for all the new visitors :)
