Warning: Do not be lured into SugarSync. They will take your money and they will not deliver. They have horrible customer service and they don not care about their customers. I was suckered into their service. Things were great for a few months. All of a sudden their services started to have glitches. SugarSync closes their servers for several days at a time and does not prepare their customers that this is going to happen. My computer broke; I had it repaired. I went to download my files and SugarSync is having issues. I have spent 2 weeks trying to get my files, trying to get an answer, trying to save my job. They do not care; they have horrible customer service. Their tech support is not in the US and they have the same pat answers for everything. How would you feel if you took your car to the shop and they told you “we put it in the garage and the mechanic will contact you.” I have been told this exact statement in tech terms. “Your issue has been sent to the engineers, they will contact you as soon as they have arrived at a solution.” Nothing more then that. I have to contact them. No one at SugarSync bothers to contact their clients. They hide. They are laughing all the way to the bank.

I’ve been using SugarSync on my iPhone. 2GB is plenty enough room for my iPhone backup needs! :)

Thanks James for posting this info and spreading the word about online storage. Have you ever given Office Live Workspace from Microsoft a try? All you need to do is create a LiveID or use the one you have and you get 5GB of online storage for free. Works on Macs and PCs too!

Sugar and Live mesh have update issues when updating files that already exist on the server. There are a couple of good ones out there including http://adrive and http://www.myotherdrive.com

I’m still not clear why anyone rates Sugar when Live Mesh gives you 8gb for free? Is this a Mac thing?

I tried SugarSync last year, the paid version for 10GB. It didn’t work well. Once I did the first upload of about 8GB, after that it never would complete an update. I’m on a fast connection, but it would try for days to do a sync when there were only 10-15 changed file.

All my e-mails to support provided canned responses, and nothing worked.

I gave up.

SugarSync just rolled out new desktop software to integrate with Windows Explorer and simplify the syncing process. I use the software daily to keep two desktops, a Macbook, and a netbook in sync and could not be happier with the software.
