Is there a secret in getting the Atheros Super G adapter to recognize and connect to 108Mbps networks?

I could do this fine before I upgraded to vista. But now that I’ve upgraded it always connects at 54Mbps, and I can’t figure out how to increase it.

On XP, there was an Atheros application that doesn’t exist on Vista. I think the application would put the card in Super G mode.

I considered Vista for my 1610, but like mitty, the eye candy isn’t worth the hassle. Vista doesn’t help me with personal productivity at all. I have been doing everything that I can to LOWER the memory footprint of the OS and loaded apps. I have to say, getting rid of the fingerprint reader software has just made all of the difference in the world. I was astounded that loading XP (not tablet) with SP1, the memory footprint was a mere 79.5MB; this is down from almost 300MB with the stock Fuji loadout. Where did all of the crapware come from?

What is new in vista windows.
Can you tell me detail some about vista.

I have upgraded to Ultimate and have similar experience to you. Specifically i am very dissapointed with the audio performance. The internal mic is a poor shadow of the awesome device that it is under XP.
However, i have found, with a little bit of configuration you can improve it slightly. Hopefully this will allow you to record and use skype.
After selecting the recording tab in the sound setup dialogue, >internal mic >properties > advanced tab> dvd sound quality. This boosted the mic level a little on my machine so i could use skype. I also switched on the sound enhancements although i’m not sure that they helped.
If you find a better work round or permanent fix for this problem please let us know. I’ll post if i find something new.

I can’t get over being amazed that M$ supposedly spend $7B on this. A “cool” interface. “as fast as XP … most of the time” 15-20% less battery life. A 45 sec. wait for a supposedly faster login method. Common apps that don’t work. I guess its nice at least that the TIP works better.

But … why would anyone want to go through this grief unless, like you, it’s a job requirement?

James! You have TWENTY-FOUR wee icons at the bottom left of the first screensnap. Can you provide a list (by row, L->R)?

Wow! all of the issues you are having (microphone, battery life, fingerprint reader) are all reasons I was looking to upgrade from my P1510D to the P1610 Vista. I am waiting for Fujitsu to release a native P1610 Vista so hopefully they will have those issues worked out. Plrase keep us updated.
