Anybody have any idea how this would work with a family package? I have 4 phones on the same account. Would I have to get four of these? I know this is all hypothetical as I don’t live in San Fran (thanks for the tease btw, I was all set to sign up then noticed it apples only to SF people).

Yea, but has anyone else experienced problems receiving Sprint in buildings? I had Sprint a number of years ago (1999) in Houston area and then recently tried it (2005) in Lansing MI and I just didn’t get as strong a signal in my house as I did my Cingular and Verizon. Now, before anyone says “that’s just your house” I have several friends, that I can’t lure away from Sprint, that get random signals in their homes as well when both my phone work in their house.

EVDO router won’t help your wife when you leave the house with the card. I tried pitching this scenario (former EVDO card was faster than former DSL) to Melissa and it didn’t go over so well. ;)

The biggest problem with “unlimited” data plans is that, usually, they aren’t unlimited – unless you define unlimited as something like 5GB/mo. If you’re a heavy user, it’s definitely not suitable for complete land-line replacement. The big print giveth, and the fine print taketh away.

I use voce wireless its 200, includes a complimentary personal assistant, unlimited everything, even directory assistance, and everything else period, like a free high end handset and collection of accessories every year. Sorry but I just love it, and I tend to gush!

I would have my wife (a real estate agent) signed up in a heartbeat for a $150 plan.

She has a $100/2000 minute plan now, usually exceeds it by 100-200 minutes and has a $59 unlimited data plan. They’d lose money on her :-)

I don’t think they’d like me as a customer relying on EVDO as my sole broadband access. Downloading 350MB DiVXes of Torchwood via P2P, for example, would — to say the least — upset them!
